Después de su retiro en 1974 con el Get Up with It ; Miles Davis regresa y en 1985 graba para este disco Columbia records este disco llamado The Man With the Horn en el cual trabaja por primera vez con Marcus Miller quien a partir de aquí participaria en casi todas las producciones de Davis
